Allergy season is upon us and many are beginning to experience the effects. Below are a few tips to help those who suffer from allergies survive the season. Along with following these recommendations you should consult an allergist/immunologist to discuss control and treatment options.

1. When pollen counts are high minimize outdoor activity. Pollen counts are typically highest during the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. You can find up-to-date pollen information on the National Allergy Bureau website.

2. Thirty minutes before outdoor activity take allergy medications - as prescribed by your physician.

3. When pollen counts are high keep windows closed.

4. Pollen can collect on your hair and skin, therefore shower before bed.

5. Pets can carry in pollen from the outdoors, therefore keep them off furniture.
