I forgot my passwordWalker of the Week: Tricia Collins (6/29/2009)
by Chris Culbertson, posted Jun 29th 2009, 15:20
I am starting a new blog series in which I will highlight at least one walker each week. I choose the walker randomly by monitoring the different challenges and selecting someone who has recently added steps. Be sure to add your steps more often so there is a better chance I pick you! I encourage everyone to comment on these posts to share an answer to any one of the questions I ask the walker of the week. I hope more people will share their thoughts and comments which will help us continue to inspire more and more people to get out and be more active!
Name: Tricia Collins
City you live in: Grain Valley
Challenge you are participating in: Blue Springs Billion Step challenge
How long have you been a walker? 20 years
Where is your favorite place to walk? I prefer to walk outside but if the weather is bad I walk on my treadmill.
Who is your favorite person to walk with? Mainly myself I walk pretty fast and it is hard to find someone to walk with me.
How many total steps have you contributed to the challenge? (you can see this on the challenge page in the grey box toward the top of the screen) 418,576 steps
Other than walking all the time (haha) what do you like to spend your time doing? I enjoy doing Boot Camp with Summer Buxton for Survival Boot Camp. I enjoy playing with and walking my dog. My husband and I play sand volleyball, and used to play coed softball. I also enjoy gardening and flowers.
Closing thoughts or comments? I knew after having my children that I would have to exercise the rest of my life if I wanted to stay slim. I took a break from it for about 2 years and have put on about 15 pounds which I am now in the process of trying to lose. Both of my parents have had heart trouble and I would like to try to avoid that. So I try to walk at least 30 minutes a day. Somedays more somedays less but I keep forging on.
Thank you so much for recgonizing me in this matter. I appreciate it. I wear my pedometer all day long. I am a Dental Assistant and am on my feet alot. So I figured why not wear it and keep track all day it is after all STEPS. is it not. haha

I love playing basketball which gets my step count up in a hurry. I have been playing as much as I can lately and my steps have gone through the roof. I also wear my pedometer all day every day and have accumulated over 1.3 Million Steps since January!!!
