I forgot my passwordWalker of the Week: Tyson Harker (7/13/2009)
by Chris Culbertson, posted Jul 13th 2009, 15:22
New blog series – Walker of the Week! I highlight at least one walker each week. I choose the walker randomly by monitoring the different challenges and selecting someone who has recently added steps. Be sure to add your steps more often so there is a better chance I pick you! I encourage everyone to comment on these posts to share an answer to any one of the questions I ask the walker of the week. I hope more people will share their thoughts and comments which will help us continue to inspire more and more people to get out and be more active!
This weeks Walker of the Week is Tyson Harker. Tyson has a blog (Start Being Fit) where he talks about his life and fitness. Please take a few minutes to check it out and leave a comment on his blog!
Name: Tyson Harker
City you live in: Gardner
Challenge you are participating in: Tweeple Billion Step Challenge
How long have you been a walker? I have been walking for 30 years but have been using it to keep fit for about 10 years. I use walking on my light or off days as part of my regular weekly workout program.
Where is your favorite place to walk? I love to walk just about anywhere but I usually just walk around my neighborhoods and the neighborhoods around me.
How many total steps have you contributed to the challenge? 23,421(as of 7/2/2009 when he had just joined the challenge)
Other than walking all the time (ha-ha) what do you like to spend your time doing? When not at work or the gym, I love spending time with my family. We go for walks and bike rides several times a week. They are the reason I keep fit.
Closing thoughts or comments? Walking is fun and great exercise. If you are looking to get into shape but don’t want to start full bore at the gym, try walking. I think most would be surprised by the benefits of it.
