The Lee’s Summit R7 School District was featured on Forbes for their effort in providing students healthy options and education!
Childhood obesity is rising at an alarming rate in the United States. It is great to see schools addressing these issues head on. Especially schools right here in Kansas City! The Lee’s Summit R7 School District are not only offering healthy options in the cafeteria, but they are teaching kids how to plan and create balanced meals using the best ingredients.
“We’re educating them through the meals we provide,” says Jane Hentzler, a registered dietitian and director of nutrition services for the school district.

LSR7 PE Step Challenge!
We are really excited to see such great things coming from a school district that we work with! There will be a lot more information coming soon, but KCFit.net has teamed up with the Lee’s Summit R7 School District to track elementary school students steps during PE class! We will have one competition first quarter for half of the elementary schools and a second competition the second quarter for the remaining elementary schools. The PE teachers will be responsible for getting the pedometers on the kids during class and logging their steps each day. The winning school will receive grant money for their PE Department compliments of Jim Wheaton and the WIC program at Truman Medical Center – Lakewood! The first quarter competition will begin on Monday! Another big THANK YOU to the local YMCA who has joined in by providing the Pedometers and Prizes for the students!
