I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am also certified in substance abuse and am an EMDRIA Certified Therapist. (EMDR is a type of rapid processing using bilateral stimulation of the brain along with a specific protocol to help people resolve traumatic memories, anxiety and a number of other issues). As a therapist, my focus is on wellness and health, rather than on disease or disorders. I prefer NOT to diagnose, because I want to work with the whole person. I encourage my clients to develop a vision of who they want to be and work towards that. When we keep our focus on the positive, rather on what we do not have or can not do, we feel more energized and motivated. I see HEALTH as a verb, not a noun. What I mean by this is that I conceptualize it as a ACTIVE process, that I must work on in some way every day. Most recently, I am spending much of my energy on my Emotional Eating Class, and on helping people who feel \"stuck\" in some area of their lives. I believe our problems begin within us, and we can begin correcting them by learning to change the way we think.
